This was my first time doing any brick repair, so I really appreciated the time Carmen spent with me explaining what needed to be done, the steps he'd take, and how the design would both meet code and last longer than the current steps. His quote was thorough and accurate, and he was always very responsive to my emails and questions. He had a terrific attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship from the overall design down to matching the color of my mortar. I'm so pleased with his work that I've asked him to tackle a second project for my chimney. I'd highly recommend Cary Masonry!

Our front porch was in pretty poor shape, allowing water to leak into our crawl space through cracked bricks and gaping mortar. Carmen came out and gave us a quote very quickly and scheduled repairs for us the following week to get it all repaired. I added a before and after picture to show how everything looks. It looks fantastic, I am very happy with how it turned out!

Carmen just finished a brick front step rebuild for us after I trusted the “hive mind” of 5-star Google reviews to contact him and discuss the project. Carmen just completed repair of our 33-year-old front porch after having storm damage and we couldn't be happier with the results. Our job was definitely not easy … we have bullnose brick and it was not only very difficult to find, but to match (which did not dissuade Carmen from taking on our job). I searched for “brick repair” and waded through the listed companies to read reviews, visit web sites, and look at any/all pictures companies may have provided. I was happy to find Carm/Cary Masonry. Great reviews, based in Cary, and really great before/after pics of his work.
Carm was very responsive and came out to view the projects I had. Laid back guy, very approachable, and certainly very experienced (he’s built many custom homes, lengthy history with brick and concrete work, great overall knowledge to assess what’s happening, why, and how to fix it).
He started the job the next week (early November, 2024) and finished in three consecutive days of work. I really appreciated his evaluation of my brick issues and the proper way to fix them. Carm is a whiz at color matching the repairs to the grout/brick being repaired. He cleaned my front steps and large brick walkway approach to the front door and repaired mortar/brick cracks in both areas, ditto for a brick sidewalk from the garage to the front door area (which a prior owner had attempted to repair and botched it horribly), and fixed a zigzag brick wall crack that had also had a previous repair attempted but botched by a prior owner. Everything came out beautifully and blended nicely. He cleaned up daily, taped off the work areas so those pesky delivery guys wouldn’t walk on it, and left things looking great.
Best of all (for me), he took the time to explain to me how I could repair future mortar cracks that might develop (material to use and method to follow), and he gave me some pointers on how I could repair some developing driveway concrete cracks (actually pulled out a tool, did some prep work on one crack, then advised on how to clean it and seal the crack. My house is old so I expect more cracks at some point. Wow, nice guy, loves what he does and proud of his work, proud to show me all of the tools, dyes, sands, etc. he carries on his truck (waaay organized) so that he can mix just about anything up on the spot as needed. This guy comes prepared. Awesome!
Carm is confident and professional, and I don’t think there’s a brick or concrete problem he can’t make right for you. Heartily recommend him.
