Small Repairs Done Right
Every repair begins with identifying the cause of the problem rather than simply covering over visible damage. We use proper masonry repair techniques, compatible mortar materials, and professional craftsmanship to help provide durable, long-lasting repairs that blend naturally with the existing masonry.

Why Repairing a Failed DIY Brick Repair Takes Experience
Many homeowners are surprised to learn that repairing a failed DIY masonry repair is often more challenging than repairing the original crack. Before new mortar can be installed, every bit of loose, weak, or improperly applied material must be carefully removed without damaging the surrounding bricks or enlarging the existing joints.
This process requires a combination of specialized masonry tools, precision grinding, hand chiseling, joint cleaning, and years of experience to remove old repair materials while preserving the original brickwork. Once the failed repair has been completely removed, the joints are properly prepared and repointed using compatible mortar and professional finishing techniques to restore both the appearance and long-term durability of the masonry.
Although this crack may appear to be a small repair, correcting it properly requires patience, the right equipment, and an understanding of how masonry should perform. The goal is not simply to hide the crack, but to remove the failed repair, restore the mortar joints correctly, and produce a repair that blends naturally with the surrounding brickwork.

Why Replacing One Brick Isn't a Simple Repair
At first glance, replacing a single chipped or damaged brick may seem like a quick repair. In reality, it is one of the most detailed and precision-oriented masonry repairs we perform. Unlike new construction, an existing brick must be carefully removed without damaging the surrounding bricks or mortar—a process that requires specialized tools, precise cutting, meticulous hand chiseling, and considerable patience.
Unlike installing new brick during construction, replacing an existing brick requires carefully removing the damaged unit without disturbing the surrounding masonry. This process involves precision saw cutting, meticulous hand chiseling to remove the old mortar, specialized masonry tools, and considerable patience to avoid damaging adjacent bricks.
Once the damaged brick is removed, the opening must be thoroughly cleaned, prepared, and fitted with a properly matched replacement brick. New mortar is then carefully installed, tooled to match the existing joints, and finished so the repair blends naturally with the surrounding masonry.
Although the repair may involve only one brick, it still requires professional craftsmanship, specialized equipment, setup time, cleanup, and years of experience to complete correctly. For this reason, even small brick replacement projects require a minimum service charge.

Mortar Color Matching Is Both an Art and a Science
One of the most important goals of professional brick repointing is making the completed repair blend as naturally as possible with the original masonry. Every brick home ages differently, and existing mortar color changes over time due to weather, moisture, sunlight, dirt, and the original materials used during construction.
Although there are virtually millions of possible mortar color variations, we carefully evaluate each project to determine the best match using our experience with mortar composition, sand color, pigments, and finishing techniques. While no contractor can guarantee an invisible repair on every project, our objective is always to restore the wall so the repaired area looks as original and natural as possible.
Successful mortar matching requires much more than selecting a color. Proper joint preparation, compatible mortar materials, professional tooling, and years of hands-on experience all contribute to creating a repair that blends with the surrounding masonry while maintaining the long-term performance of the wall.
